Bought a weighted blanket? Congratulations, you made a good choice. Weighted blankets are proven to provide you with better sleep and to alleviate wide range of sleeping disorders.

If you are a brand new weighted blanket owner, then we recommend you try sleeping with your blanket for at least 30 days, to see, how your weighted blanket helps your body and mind to relax and to reduce stress and anxiety. Sleeping quality has a huge impact on what we are when we wake up and how we cope with our daily lives. To extend the life of your quilt, there are some guidelines how to take care of your weighted blanket.

The fabric

All Dreamsville weighted blankets are made of natural bamboo. This fabric is 100% natural and highly absorbent. Bamboo has a special feature of keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer. It´s one of the softest and most eco-friendly materials on earth.

This is also the reason, why bamboo is often recommended for people with allergies, as it is soft and gentle and does not interfere your skin’s natural bacterial flora. Our weighted blankets come with a duvet cover, produced from Minky fabric. It´s your choice, whether to use your blanket on its own or with the cover.

Dreamsville weighted blankets are treated with special Polygiene Stays Fresh Technology – a special odor-controlling treatment that inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria, allowing you to wash your weighted blanket less frequently.

Polygiene’s odor-free performance lasts the lifetime of the product. You also save time, water and energy associated with washing, at the same time reducing the environmental footprint.

Washing guidelines

Although our weighted blankets last clean and fresh for a long time, sometimes you still need to wash them.

For full-sized weighted blanket for adults, it is recommended to do wash it by hand. IF your washing machine is big enough, you can use the special handwash program (BUT remember to check up your washer´s max load).

Please do not iron your blanket, do not bleach or tumble-dry, and definitely don´t try to dry-clean it. Your weighted blanket will last longer if you stick with these guidelines.

When it comes to weighted blanket for kids, it is allowed to use washer too, because it is not so heavy-weighted (BUT again, check up your washer´s max load as all washing machines are slightly different).

Our recommendation for all sizes of weighted blankets is to use professional laundry services.

Duvet covers can be washed separately in a washing machine, using a mild process and max 40C°. Do not iron, bleach or dry-clean your Minky cover.

How to put your duvet cover back in place:

  1. Turn your duvet cover inside out.
  2. Put your weighted blanket on a flat surface, for example on a bed, floor, etc.
  3. Place your duvet cover up on the blanket and tie up the hooks on the sides of the cover and the blanket.
  4. Turn your duvet cover carefully back right way up, so that your weighted blanket will stay fixed with hooks inside.

Pro tip: When it is hot and warm out here, try sleeping with weighted blanket without a cover. Bamboo as a fabric is truly refreshing and Polygiene treatment will even accelerate it. With Dreamsville weighted blanket you don´t have to worry if your blanket stays fresh. Our high-end technology will keep your blanket hygienic and you get the rest.
